Captain James Cook the English explorer, navigator and cartographer. A Captain in the Royal Navy, Cook made three voyages to the Pacific Ocean, exploring the eastern coastline of Australia, the discovery of the Hawaiian Islands, the mapping of Newfoundland and the circumnavigation of New Zealand. During his third exploratory voyage in the Pacific, Cook died in 1779 in Hawaii in a fight with native Hawaiians. Video by author, Brian Kavanagh.
